Awesome is God from his sanctuary; the God of Israel—he is the one who gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God! – Psalm 68:35 ESV

Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately

  • If you are a Gentile, like me, (that’s anyone who is not a Jew) it’s easy to overlook the names of God that have to do with Israel. However, the book of Romans talks about Gentiles being grafted into Israel because of Jesus. So whether you are from Israel or not, this name is applicable to all of us. You might want to call Him the God of ____ (the country where you live).
  • 1 Chronicles 4:10 says, “Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, ‘Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.’ And God granted his request.”
  • Some time ago, I started praying Jabez’ prayer (see above) every day, for myself and for my family and others. Note: he prayed it to the God of Israel. I have seen some incredible miracles happen since I started praying—better jobs for my sons, open doors for my ministry, my mind able to concentrate better and so much more. I want to encourage you to take at least a month and pray the prayer for yourself and your family. See if God doesn’t answer you in some remarkable ways.
  • Think about what Psalm 68:35 says the God of Israel does. How has He done that for you?
  • Spend some time praising your great God.

A Prayer for You

God of Israel, thank You that You give power and strength to Your people, and I am one of them. Lord, I ask that You would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let Your hand be with me and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain. Thank You so much for all of Your amazing blessings.
