Facilitator Training Learn How to Lead Small Groups

Facilitator Training

Relationship Resources trains people to effectively facilitate groups, using adult learning principles. Participants will gain the tools needed for leading RRI’s workshops or using their material to facilitate any training or workshop.

Would you like to lead groups where people are eager to return? Would you like to transform people’s lives through training? You can do both if you learn a few simple principles.

Learn How to Lead Small Groups

We offer practical principles and intensive experiential training, where participants practice how to effectively lead groups. In this class you will learn to use the following:

  • Large group interaction
  • Small group interaction
  • Skill demonstrations
  • Practice practical skills in pairs
  • The benefits of reflection and self-assessments

Most, if not all, of us teach and train others because we sincerely want to make a difference in people’s lives. We want to help people grow in their relationship with God, others and in their practical skills for life. However, do you know how to accomplish that?

Adult Learning

Our Christian culture teaches us that adults learn through lecture or sermons. Our culture says that the more information we can cram down people’s throats, the more they will learn. Consequently we try to shove as much of our knowledge into others in as short a time as possible. Yet, statistics show that the opposite is true. We’ll look at some of these statistics that reveal that lecture and monologues are not ideal, if we want to make a difference in people’s lives. We need to get people involved in their own learning.

We will discuss and practice these and many other axioms of adult learning:

  • Take advantage of the teachable moment
  • Trust your intuition
  • Don’t tell what you can ask; don’t ask if you know the answer; tell, in dialogue
  • Don’t decide for learners what they can decide for themselves
  • Design training to evoke the energy that is in the group
  • None of us is smart as all of us
  • Adults learn by doing
