He will be a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, a source of strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.
Isaiah 28:6
Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately:
- Gebura means might, strength, victory and power.
- We are in a battle against the enemy (Ephesians 6:10-18). God is our source of strength when we are in the middle of the battle. He is the first one we should turn to when we need help.
- In what ways do you need the Lord to be your source of strength today? When you need strength, ask Him. He is faithful.
- The Lord should be our first and primary source of strength, not just one of our sources that we go to after we have exhausted all of the others. In Him is all the strength we need for each day. Do you believe that? If not, talk to the Lord about this issue. I admit that too often I try to handle things on my own and only turn to God when all else fails. I want to learn to go to Him first for strength—not last.
- Ephesians 6:10 says, “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” I’ve been meditating on that almost every day lately before I put on the armor of God. It’s when we are in Him that we can be strong.
A Prayer for You:
Thank You, Lord, that You are my Source of Strength. I want You to be my first and primary source of strength each day. I choose to be strong in You and in Your mighty power, rather than in my own strength or in other people’s.
