The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
And he thrust out the enemy before you and said, Destroy.
Deuteronomy 33:27 ESV

Steps on Your Journey to Embrace God’s Faithfulness:
- This is one of my favorite verses. It is one I relied on when times were the hardest. When I feel like I’ve hit the bottom, it comforts me to know that I am resting in God’s everlasting arms!
- The New Living Translation says: “The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He drives out the enemy before you; he cries out, ‘Destroy them!’”
- Study these other verses. What do they add to your understanding?
- Psalm 46:1 (NKJV): “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
- Psalm 90:1 (NKJV): “Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.”
- Consider each part of this promise. Ask the Lord to show you what He wants to show you through it.
- The eternal God. What does it mean to you that He has no beginning or end?
- God is your dwelling place. He is your refuge, the place you can live in peace and security.
- Underneath are His everlasting arms. His arms are big enough and strong enough to hold you and they will never go away. When you feel like you’ve hit the bottom, think about where you are resting!
- God drives out your enemy before you and said, Destroy. God works with us against the enemy. He drives the enemy out in front of us and tells us to destroy him. He has already subdued the enemy and has him on the run, with us behind Him. In what areas do you need to partner with God against the enemy? Ask Him for His help.
- As you meditate on the promises in this verse, what is God saying to you?
- Say this verse as your declaration: “The eternal God is my refuge, and his everlasting arms are under me. He drives out the enemy before me, telling me to ‘Destroy them!’”
A Prayer for You:
Eternal God, thank You that You are my dwelling place. You are my place of safety and security. Thank You that no matter how far I go down, Your everlasting arms are always underneath me, holding me up, protecting me. Thank You that You thrust the enemy out before me, disarming him and giving me the strength to destroy him. Show me in new ways what this means.
Blessings on you as you grow in your relationship with God and others,
