How Do We Stress Ourselves?
Excerpted from All Stressed Up and Everywhere to Go, Solutions to De-Stressing Your Life, Recover Your Sanity
Internal stress can cause us to see and feel the stress situation to be worse than it really is.
Internal stress is the burden of unresolved mental and emotional stress we carry with us and bring to new stress situations.
Often we can’t distinguish between the stress caused by external events and the stress we already have within us. We tend to think it always comes from outside of us. The truth is that most of our stress comes from inside of us. It can easily make up more than half of the total pressure experienced in a difficult situation.
Unrealistic expectations, destructive attitudes and sore spots
can all affect the total amount of stress we feel.

Gaylyn and Ken remind us that life without stress is no life at all. This book is the best material I have found on handling stress. The principles are solidly Biblical. They are born out of real life experience facing stress. This is a book that I will encourage all of our missionaries (in TEAM) to get and work through. I am grateful for this new resource that they can use. Thank you again for this book and the potential it has to help missionaries and many others with their stress.
Blessings on you,
Gaylyn Williams, Co-author of Never Do Fundraising Again: A Paradigm Shift from Donors to Lifelong Partners. This is a great resource for any missionaries, short-term or long-term, who have to raise their support. Consider giving it to any missionaries you know as a gift.
