The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.
Psalm 27:1, 3 ESV
Steps on Your Journey to Embrace God’s Faithfulness:
- You can live in confidence, without fear, because of who the Lord is. Consider who He i:s
- Your light. How does He bring light into your life?
- Your salvation. What has He saved you from?
- The stronghold or strength of your life. How does God bring you strength and protection?
- Is God your light, salvation and stronghold? If He isn’t, what might you need to do?
- If God is all these to you, why would you fear? Who would you have to fear?
- Do you struggle with fear? If so, meditate on all God is for you. Ask Him to show you how He can keep you from fear.
- You don’t need to be fearful even if a huge army encamps against you or if war should rise against you.
- These truths can be difficult to apply to our lives, especially if fear has a foothold. Talk to the Lord about anything or anyone you fear. Ask Him to help you trust Him and live in confidence, rather than fear.
- The promise in these verses is that you can live in confidence regardless of what happens to you, because of who God is in your life. Is that true for you? Why or why not? What keeps you from living in confidence?
- Before I went to bed one night at the cabin where I was staying, I heard noises outside. It’s very remote, so if there was a problem, I had no one to help me. Fear started to rise in me. Rather than letting it cause more fear, I began speaking the truth of God out loud, declaring what I knew was true, including God is with me; God is my shield and protector. I asked God to put His angels all around the house to protect me. After that I went to bed and slept peacefully.
- Take time today to meditate on God’s Promise: I Can Live without Fear.
A Prayer for You:
Lord, You are my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? You are the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? I declare that even if an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. I choose to trust You, Lord. Would You help me deal with any fear in my life?
