Do you recognize your authority?

Let’s look at let’s look at Ephesians 2:6 again today—God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.

Christ is sitting in heaven, on His throne. He is the King of Kings. He has ultimate authority and power. Now, think about the fact that you are seated with Him. Notice that is past tense. It’s already done. However, I believe we can choose whether or not we want to sit there with Him on a daily basis. God gave us free will. We can choose to live in the pits if we want to, like we talked about last week. We can choose to let stress overwhelm us if we want to—and I have definitely done that.

I had read this verse numerous times over the years, but never really understood it. I even wrote my college thesis on the book o Ephesians—so I spent many, many hours studying it. However, there were some concepts I didn’t understand, so I just sort of skipped over them. When I first started to understand this concept, it began to transform the way I think and the way I pray. I’m still learning what it means. I believe that because we are seated with Christ in the heavenly realms, we have his authority over the enemy. However, we have the choice whether or not to use that authority.
