God’s Name: King of the Mountain

God’s Name: King of the Mountain

God is Lord of godless nations—
sovereign, he’s King of the mountain.

Psalm 47:7-8 (MSG)

Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately:

  • When I was a kid, growing up in Guatemala, I went to a boarding school from the time I was six to thirteen. On Saturdays, we often got to play on ancient Mayan pyramids that were in ruins. The person who got to the top first would announce, “I’m the King of the Mountain.”
  • How is God the King of the Mountain? What do you think that means?
  • The ESV says, “God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne.” How does this change your view of this name?
  • How does this name affect your life?
  • Ask God to show you more about this name.

A Prayer for You:

King of the Mountain, I praise You that You reign over the nations and that You sit on Your holy throne. You are the all-powerful God, the ruler of the whole earth. I want to learn to worship You more as my King.
