You have turned from the God who can save you.

You have forgotten the Rock who can hide you.

Isaiah 17:10 (NLT)

Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately:

  • Tsur means rock or strength. Maoz means fortress, strength or strong. In what ways is God like a rock?
  • How has the Lord been the Rock Who Can Hide You? Think about when you’ve seen Him in that way. If you can’t remember, ask Him to remind you.
  • The New International Version translates this name, “The Rock, your fortress.” Think about what a fortress is like. When I think of a fortress, I think about when my son Timothy and I were on top of Masada in Israel. It was a tall rock mountain where the Jews hid from their enemies, virtually impenetrable. They were safe there for a long time. I say virtually, because their enemies did end up overpowering them.
  • Our God is not like any manmade fortress. We are completely safe when we run to Him. He is the One Who Can Hide You. What are you waiting for? You can run to Him and you will be safe and secure.

A Prayer for You:

Lord, I praise You that You are the Rock Who Can Hide Me. You are unchangeable, solid and secure. You are a place I can run to for refuge, knowing You’ll always hide me and protect me. Help me to learn to live in You, in Your hiding place.

Blessings on you as you get to know God,
