Steps on Your Journey to Embrace God’s Faithfulness:

Let’s look at each of the promises in this verse. Take time to think about each one, asking yourself if you are standing on these promises.

  • God is good. He is good to you. How has He shown His goodness to you in recent days? If you haven’t noticed, take time to look back to see His goodness.
  • God is a refuge in times of trouble. What kinds of trouble are you experiencing? Financial? Relational? Physical? Emotional? Or any other way? God is a refuge you can run to for safety and comfort. In what ways do you find refuge in the Lord?
  • The Lord cares for those who trust Him. How has He cared for you? What does that look like?

Do you trust God to care for you and provide for you? What holds you back from trusting God completely? For me, trust is an ongoing process. I trust God in many ways; however I’m still learning to trust Him in deeper ways. It will probably be a lifelong process.

What do these verses add?

  • Jeremiah 17:17 (NOG): “You are my refuge on the day of disaster.”
  • 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT): “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

One of the earliest verses I memorized was 1 Peter 5:7. It was a comfort to me as I was at boarding school from age six to thirteen. I had no one who seemed to care about me when I was there, other than one dorm mother—who had up to fifty other kids she cared for as well. I learned I could depend on God, because I knew, even at an early age, that He cared for me.

In what areas do you need to find refuge and caring from the Lord? Talk to Him about that.

A Prayer for You:

Dear Lord God, thank You for being my refuge in times of trouble. Thank You for caring for me when I trust You. I’m so glad I can give You all of my worries and cares, knowing You care about me.
