Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately:

  • This is a name Jesus was called in his last days on earth.
  • This verse is quoted from Psalm 118:22-23.
  • Isaiah 53, especially verse 3 talks more about how the Messiah would be rejected by men. Today He is becoming more and more so. How is it for you to follow the One who is rejected?
  • Isaiah 28:16 refers to the Messiah as a stone: “Therefore thus says the Lord God, ‘Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed’” (NAS).
  • Think about what this name means. Ask the Lord to show you what He wants you to know today. Let’s break this name down:
  • The—Not just any
  • Stone—What was the stone used for? How is Jesus like a stone?
  • The builders—Who were they? What were they building?
  • Rejected—What does it mean to be rejected? When have you been rejected? What did it feel like? Why was Jesus rejected by the builders?

A Prayer for You:

Jesus, thank You for coming as a foundation stone for my life. Thank You for being willing to be rejected by men. Forgive me for any ways I have rejected You. Help me to trust in You more and build my life on You.
