Jesus’ Stress Relief Technique: Forgiveness

Look what Jesus said when He was in His most stressful situation, when He was hanging on the cross, carrying all of our sins.

Luke 23:34—Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

Jesus is an amazing example of how to forgive when we are hurt. What an incredible quote on forgiveness.

Forgiveness is a choice we have to make continually throughout our lives. We don’t forgive for the other person’s sake. We forgive to follow Jesus’ example and for ourselves, so we aren’t eaten up by bitterness and hurt.

Today I’m dealing with some very hurtful things said to me last night. Rather than focusing on what was said to me, I’m choosing to look at the person through Jesus’ eyes of love. I’m choosing to forgive and cry for that person, for the hurt that must be behind the unkind words. It’s amazing how changing my perspective affects my outlook and my attitudes. Then it’s easy to forgive.

How can Jesus’ example of forgiveness help you to more effectively manage your stress?

All Stressed Up and Everywhere to Go! has more practical ways to work through forgiving others.

Blessings on you,
