It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death

before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

Luke 2:26 (NKJV)

Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately:

  • This verse is talking about Simeon, a godly man, who was filled with the Holy Spirit.
  • Meditate on this name for Jesus. Remember Christos means Anointed One. Jesus is God’s anointed, chosen One. Kurios means master.
  • Why do you think Luke calls Jesus “The Lord’s Christ” rather than “the Messiah” or some other name?
  • What is the Lord showing you about this name?
  • As the Holy Spirit spoke to Simeon, He also speaks to us today. Are you listening? Are you filled with the Holy Spirit so you can hear Him.
  • I’m sure there are so many times when God has tried to talk to me, but I haven’t been listening. There have also been times when there was something that kept me from being able to hear God, when I was trying to listen. Now, when I sense there is something keeping me from seeing or hearing Him, I ask Him to remove whatever it is. Sometimes He shows me the hindrance, because I need to do something myself to eliminate it. Other times He just removes it.
  • If you can’t hear the Lord speak to you, ask Him to remove anything that is keeping you from seeing Him or hearing Him clearly.

A Prayer for You:

Jesus, I’m amazed at all the different names You have. Thank You for revealing so many various facets about Yourself through Your names. Help me to learn to know You more through each one.
